Menchhiyam Hydropower Project
Menchhiyam Hydropower Ltd is a dedicated Independent Power Producer (IPP) focused on harnessing Nepal’s rich hydropower potential. The company is currently developing the Upper Piluwa Khola-2 Hydroelectric Project, a run-of-river hydroelectric plant located in Chainpur Municipality, Sankhuwasabha District of Koshi Province.
The project has an installed capacity of 4.72 MW and is built on the Piluwa Khola, a tributary of the Arun River. It aims to contribute clean, sustainable energy to Nepal’s national grid while promoting local development and infrastructure growth.
The project was commissioned in Falgun 2080 B.S., but sustained significant damage due to a flood in Asar 2081 B.S.. Since then, Menchhiyam Hydropower has been actively involved in rehabilitation and rebuilding efforts to bring the plant back to operational status.
Restoration & Commitment
Despite the natural disaster, the company has made swift progress in restoring civil, hydro-mechanical, and electro-mechanical works. With strong technical teams and committed leadership, Menchhiyam Hydropower continues to strive toward clean energy development and national energy security.
